AETNA: Transportation to Medical Appointments in Kentucky

Medicaid members get transportation benefits

Aetna works with Modivcare to offer you rides for your nonemergency medical needs. You can get a ride for visits to your:

  • Medical Provider, Dental provider, or Behavioral health care

There are no limits on how many rides you can use.

Ask for a ride as early as you can:

  • At least 1 business day before you need it for regular trips
  • No more than 30 days before your appointment

Sometimes you may ask for a ride with less notice, like:

  • Pick up after discharge from a hospital
  • Trips for urgent conditions (not emergencies but severe or painful enough to need treatment within 24 hours)

How to schedule a ride?

Be sure to ask for a ride at least one business day before you need it. Just call Modivcare at 1-866-799-4463. You can call to schedule a ride Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM.

OR you can download the ModivCare app on your mobile device and schedule directly through there. Download through the app store.

Be sure to have this info ready when you call:

  • Your first and last name, date of birth and phone number
  • Your member ID number
  • Name, phone number and address of your provider
  • Date and time of your health care appointment
  • Pickup time and location (address and ZIP code)
  • If anyone is traveling with you (you can take one person as an attendant, age 16 years or older)
  • If you have special travel needs (example: wheelchair access)
  • Pickup time for after you’re done with the appointment

What if I need special assistance? When you call ModivCare for the first time to schedule your first ride, they will ask if you have a specific transportation need. This is so your driver will know if you need assistance to or from the car, extra time, or if you need a specific type of vehicle.Let your transportation provider know if you:

  • Need help getting in or out of the car
  • Use a walker, cane, or wheelchair
  • Need a wheelchair-accessible van, or another specific vehicle
